Acne Prevention
Acne is no fun. It doesn't matter whether your face is covered in acne or you have
j
ust one blemish since every blemish seems huge to the one who is afflicted by it. Acne
prevention is the best proactive measure that you can take so that you have more ammunition and less to fight when
you are battling acne.
Acne prevention treatment comes in several forms as listed below. . .
Acne Prevention Diet
There is no argument that a healthy diet that includes drinking lots of water can help with
the prevention of acne.
Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and cut back on your fat and sugar. While these ingredients do not
directly affect your skin, they do cause conditions within the body that can cause breakouts. Drinking lots of
water will also go a long way toward keeping your skin hydrated, moist and supple. It will not need to produce more
sebum to stay moist if you are drinking adequate water to do it naturally.
Exercise
It is important to get regular exercise. This means at least three times a week for at least 30 minutes at a
time. Exercise can be walking, jogging, weight lifting, dancing, whatever you can do to get your heart rate up and
keep it up. While this is not a direct link to acne prevention, a healthy body functions more efficiently, allowing
better circulation and for toxins to be removed from the system effectively. When your body is operating better,
your skin will reflect it. Just make sure to wash your face after your workouts. Sweat can clog pores and cause
breakouts.
Sleep
Again, this has more to do with an overall wellness that results in clearer skin than is does directly with acne
prevention. However, when you sleep, your body takes that time to rebuild tissues and the organs can rest and
rejuvenate. When this occurs, your skin will definitely show it. This does not mean that you have to get 8 hours a
night - some people need more than 8 hours and others need way less. Find the balance of sleep that is right for
you. You will feel better and your skin will glow.
Reduce Stress
It is easy to say "cut down on the stress in your life," but it isn't so easy to do. Stress is a fact of life
for most people. You can, however, relax and find some peace through meditation and relaxation exercises such as
yoga and pilates. There are also herbal supplements on the market that help to reduce your level of stress. When
your body is under stress, a variety of physiological changes occur in the body, some of which can lead to skin
conditions such as scaliness, dryness and acne.
Cleansing
Cleansing is vital to keeping acne at bay, but if you over cleanse, you will be doing more harm than good.
Select a cleanser that is specially formulated for acne prone skin, but start out with a cleanser that is mild. Use
that cleanser twice a day for two weeks and if you do not see a difference, you can get a cleanser that is a little
stronger. For acne prevention, a mild cleanser should suffice. Use warm water, never hot or any extreme in
temperature. Splash some warm water on your face, apply the cleanser using the pads of your fingers in a circular
motion. Do not scrub and do not use harsh abrasives. Rinse well with the warm water and blot dry with a clean
towel. If you would like to use a scrub, select one that is very gentle and do not overuse it. Acne prevention is
possible when you have the tools to do it.
