An Acne Prevention Diet
Doctors will tell you that an
acne prevention diet is one of the best ways to ward off acne breakouts.
A healthy diet not only works for helping your body gets
stronger and healthier, but it also helps in acne
prevention.
When your body has the proper balance of vitamins and minerals and is free from preservatives and additives that
are in most prepared foods, the toxin level is greatly reduced and your body functions better. When your body is
functioning as it should, all of the organs are working optimally. This means that they are all receiving good
blood flow - your skin included.
Good circulation does a variety of things for your skin, including keeping the skin supple
and moist - and free from acne.
So as you see, vitamins and acne prevention go hand in hand.
Fruit
Fresh fruits can pack your body with a variety of vitamins. Citrus offers a healthy dose
of vitamin C which is tissue building. Antioxidants that come from blueberries, pomegranates and grapes help to
keep the body clean and rids it of free radicals. Fresh fruit packs the vitamins that your body needs to stay
healthy. The benefits that your skin will receive from eating lots of fresh fruit includes acne
prevention.
Vegetables
Fresh vegetables are wonderful for preventing acne. The best vegetables, specifically for
acne, are green leafy vegetables, the darker green, the better. Broccoli is very good, but it is also good to get a
variety of colors in your daily dose of vegetables. Follow the food pyramid for some very sound guidance regarding
servings and amount of servings you should have each day.
Whole Grains
Whole wheat pasta, rye bread, 7 grain hot cereal, all of these can help give you an
overall good feeling and make your body healthy. Brown rice and grains such as cous cous and quinoa will feed your
body and help to give you great skin. Some grains, such as quinoa, are very high in protein which is vital in
tissue repair. This means that high protein foods are invaluable in an acne prevention diet.
Proteins
Fish, chicken, turkey and eggs are all great sources of protein. Beef and pork are also
high in protein, but some may be a little high in fat. You should have fish twice a week because it is a very good
source of omega 3 fatty acids. Salmon, Mackerel and sardines are all very high in omega 3's which are showing more
and more positive effects on the human body by way of healthy organ function, relief of stress and mood stabilizer.
Protein, which is also found in fish, as well as chicken, eggs, cheese and turkey, is vital in the rebuilding of
tissue. This makes it an optimum tool in acne prevention.
Fats
OK, brace yourself. You need some fat in your diet. Fat cushions your organs and helps
with certain body functions. It also keeps your skin smooth and supple. Do not cut all of the fat out your diet, if
you lose too much fat you could be setting yourself up for a myriad of health problems, including organ
failure.
Water
Water is vital to keeping your body healthy and it is the main tool that you need for
keeping your skin clear. When you do not drink enough water, your skin dehydrates, but it still needs moisture. To
stay moist, it produces oils to compensate for the lack of moisture. This can lead to acne. Drinking adequate
amounts of water is one of the best methods of acne prevention that you can do.
